Default 2000 Blazer LS 4 WD

Help! My 4 wheel drive mechanism became stuck after using it during a snowstorm here on Long Island. The day after, it would not go back to the "2" setting. Mechanic said it's the transfer case and needs motor mounts. Any ideas on locating remanufactured parts? He wants to charge me $1100-1500

I don’t want to discount your mechanics diagnosis... but it’s pretty rare for the actual transfer cases to go bad on these. Did he give you any reason that he suspected the transfer case being bad?

Default Transfer case problem....

Just spoke to the Mechanic at Lee Miles. He said it was the motor on the transfer case. It froze, so he put in a used case and motor. Also needed motor mounts. This is the best car I've ever owned, but it has 255k + miles on it now. How much longer do you think it'll last? Would it be worth it to have another engine put in, in the future?

... Those are two different ends of the drivetrain
The Transfercase Motor is a 115 dollar part, Motormounts i can understand and you can do those at home AND the Transfercase Shift motor for a grand total of like 250. You are getting screwed by your mechanic and i really hope he still has the Tcase that came out of the truck, i would go back and demand he put it back in and fix it yourself.
