The past 4 winters have been a bear for us. In the past when the temp. dropped to 20deg. or colder, she sometimes would take 20-30 cranks of the key before it would start. It would fire, then die. This winter we tried a suggestion from a forum where we just barely rotated the ign. switch and it would always start, even at 15 below. Monday it would not start at 30 above! Today I replaced the ign. switch and unless I'm not reprogramming the PasLoc correctly(another of GM's better ideas) I am ready to take this thing to the recycler.
In the last year; New battery, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump(including running a dedicated ground wire) and now ignition switch. Is there anything left?
Unit has 105,000 well maintained miles on it.
For resetting should I be leaving the key in the run position or the first position where only a couple dash lights are on? Thanks for any help

check if you ave fire thru the pick up coil and then at the spark plugs, then check your fuel pressure ,then maybe scan test if any codes, when you replace the fuel pump did you replace the filter,is the air filter ok ,i would start from this and then let us know

I realized my security light was actually working proper so I checked fuel pres. That was fine but while cranking the dead(?) motor, it acted like it wanted to start at times. Out of frustration I held the pedal to the floor like in the olden days and cranked away. It seems like the engine had loaded up real bad, perhaps from all the failed attempts to start it prior to replacing the starter switch. Anyway it popped right off this morning at 5 deg. below.
Kind of a happy ending although it's been a rather expensive experience.I would guess my next investment will be a new starter due to the extreme cranking it's done the last fuel winters.
Did I mention this same unit ate an alternator recently(Sat.night 150 miles from home$$$$$!!) and a new transmission a year ago.(The 4L60/700 are the best thing that evar happened for the trans. shops)
All this on a 100,000 mile vehicle. Big reason consumer groups tell us to RUN from S10 Blazers.

for passlock programming you have to leave the key on the on position for 30 minutes.
