hello all, long time reader first time poster,
I have a 2000 Jimmy diamond edition 4x4, i need a replacement engine due to lifter noise, i just replaced all the lifters about 3 weeks ago and they're collapsed again, not all though. this was a replacement engine on August 2010 with 97000 miles. My question is can I install an X motor in place or does it have to be a W motor? Also mine has an EGR valve and the motor that I'm looking at does not. Will either one cause an MIL or any drivability concerns? Thank you ,Pete

p.s. I'm at the point to just sell it as I also have a 98 Jimmy, but can't post in Classifieds until I reach a certain amount of posts.

 

if u have a egr engine and the other does not u will throw a code for it as the egr motor is a older version and the new one has no egr. id keep the diamond edition as they are rare to come by and are far better then the envoy in my personal opinion. u can install it but may need the ecu to go with it

 

yeah but what if i change the manifolds? (i'd replace the intake gaskets anyway and use my newer injectors)
