Default 2001 s series trans problem.

Hey everyone. ive never owned a manual tran vehicle before. my blazer has 117,000 miles on it. When the trans is engaged it makes an horrible squeeling noise. But only if it is engaged...if im just coasting or idle it is silent. But as soon as i accelerate it starts. Im not sure about the trans fluid...if i can just add more or where it would be because i dont have the manual. any help/suggestions GREATLY appreciated.

Does the squealing noise change when you step on the clutch?
My first thought is that you have a noisy (worn)clutch release bearing.
