This is why I keep my tranny fluid as clean as how it looks when it gets poured from new.. 4L60-E is durable!

 

Speaking of tranny fluid, what is the capacity of our tranny's and the transfer case?
The reason I am asking is in 2015 when my tranny was worked on last, they billed me for 15 qts of fluid and 3qts of transfer case fluid.
Sounds excessive to me..

alot of ATF is used in rebuilding, oiling seals, filling the TC and pan once its in the truck. presoaking clutches n steels, etc.

 

Transmission is 11-13 quarts after overhaul with cooler and lines flushed. Transfer case depending on model can be 1 1/2 to 2 1/2. Also on your diagnosis on the 2-3 clutch pack is going to be incorrect as there is no such clutch assembly. I only point this out so that anyone following this thread will have correct information. 2nd and 4th gear is obtained by a band application.

Thanks for the correction. I must have misheard what was wrong this time. I know that this time it was not the 3/4.
As to the fluid , so what was done in 2015 was accurate.

got my truck back today and this is what they did:
Replace transmission with one with 117K on it flush cooler lines
Installed new transmission filter kit with 12 qts transmission fluid
Replaced two motor mounts and transmission mount.

Drives like new..
