4x4 doesn't work...cost to fix?
hey all, I had a shop diagnose my 4 wheel drive which hasn't worked in the 3 years I have owned it. They said the "switch" that resides under the battery tray was bad, and the total cost to replace it would be $160...does that sound reasonable? I was expecting a bigger problem and bigger cost, so I am pretty happy it is something simple. Let me know what you think. Also, I want to change the fluid in the tranny and transfer case before I start using the 4 wheel drive, how difficult would that be?

i dont know what year your blazer is but there usualy is a drain screw, and a filler screw, the filler screw is obciously on the top. and the drain at the botom. unscrew the drain screw and let it drain, then screw it shut and use the other one to fill it up lol

at the back of the motor near the ditributor cap there is a vacuum line manifold which has maybe 5 hoses attached to it, alot of times this area is the problem as a hose comes off and the vacuum is lost, try looking there and put all the connections back together. It may be the switch under the battery tray but id check the hoses first.
