Default 4X4 innop

My 2000 4 door Blazer seems to have a trouble going into 4X4 using the push buttons on the dash. When I select any one of the selections all I get is a blinking light for about a Minuit and then it goes back to 2 high. This happens when driving, stopped in drive , neutral or Park. Now heres the kicker, when I select a function and shut the vehicle off, Wait a few Minuit's and start the vehicle, the 4X4 works. Any suggestions or is the common with this vehicle?

Do you have Auto4wd as one of the options with your buttons?

If you do have auto4wd, it very well could be the vacuum solenoid on the firewall.
