Default 4x4 problem, new to the truck!

Hi,
i just currently bought a 1999 Chev blazer, I've owned one in the past and never discovered this problem. The lady who i bought the truck off off of she had engaged it into 4hi and the lights on the switch went out.

I have checked for corrosion, i have check the vacuum lines under the battery, what else could it be. I have disconnected the vacuum line that runs to that peice under the battery, free'd up the wheels but i would like the transfer case to go back in 2hi..
any suggestions.

3-button or 4-button switch in the dash?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery? Have you checked all of the fuses?
