Default RE: 89 K5 TBI

I wonder if I accidentally did something to the o2 sensor wire when I replaced the transmission.
I checked underneathe with a flashlight and could not find any visible damage and mis-connection. Where does the other end of the o2 sensor wire end up? I know that there is a ground somewhere, could be perhaps grounded to the tranny? I printed out the code 44 troubleshoot sheet you sent me and my uncle (gm mechanic of 12 yrs.) read it and he seems to think something isn't hooked up. I am usually pretty thorough about my truck, however I don't stop to ask for directions either! Any and all advice is very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Joe
