I have 91 s-10 blazer, the check guages light comes on and the oil pressure guage indicates the vehicle has 0 oil pressure, then the temp guage jumps from the lowest point to the highest point a bunch of times. When I step on the gas the oil pressure guages rises to the 40 mark in the middle of the guage and the truck loses power and acts like it doesnt want to go. Once I get passed about 40mph the truck seems to level out and drive fine until I stop and then the guage light is back on and it is idling rough. Anyone have any idea of what this probelm could be?

 

First off you need to check to see if you have good oil pressure.....I would recommend hooking up a mechanical oil pressure gauge and testing it that way....if the oil pressure is good you could have a faulty sending unit. If oil pressure is not good you could possibly do a lot of damage cause the oil pump could be going out.

As for the temp gauge....and a possibility for the OP gauge...it could be a loose connection on the block somewhere or something grounding out. Check all your plug wires and make sure none of them are rubbed/burnt thru.

How long has it been since you changed plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter???
