Question 95 S-10 Blazer distributor differences

What is the difference between side mounted spark plug wires on the distributer and the top mount? Are they interchangeable? When I search online for an engine it specifically asks which one I have. It is a "W" code on the VIN. Any experts out there?

They are not interchangeable. One is for the EDI system and the other is for the older more HEI style. Both systems were available in '95 and any parts catalog should give both options.

SWARTLKK, Thanks for the reply! Now my question would be to you or anyone who knows. Can I swap engines that appear identical between a 94 bravada and the 95 Blazer by just tranfering the distributor from one block to the next, essentailly leaving the origional dist. intact?

The EDI engine requires a CKP (crankshaft position) sensor. If the older motor does not have provisions for the CKP sensor, you cannot use it without investigating swapping over parts. I am not sure what can and cannot be swapped between them.
