Default Differences between '98 and '99 Blazer

Hi all,
I recently purchased a 1998 Blazer 4x4 with some electrical gremlins. Too good of a deal to pass up, so looks like I may become a regular questioner here. Well, I have found another deal. This time on a 99 blazer. My question is; does anyone know the differences between a 98 and 99 blazer or where I may find the answer? I was looking to buy the 99 to use as a parts truck if there aren't too many differences.

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi After having done this on a 96 to 97 I can only relate my experiences. I found countless wierd little changes(ie: the rear hatch acctuator) that are easily overcome!
in my case, both the ABS & the fuel tank were different. But virtually all hard parts are swappable. Of course, if the design of the dash was different(I don't know those) between the 2 YOM"s...well. Anyway you should do what someone in ths forum told me recently: BUY IT & STRIP IT! You can't go wrong! And what parts you can't use, someone else can!!! step66

about the only real difference between the years is on options & standard equipment.

I know the mirrors are different ('99's are better IMO), along with the steering wheel design (again, I like the '99), and I think the Transfer case may be different? I don't recall any '98's with the auto T-case but I could easily be wrong. Just my .02

the 4-button systems (Auto 4WD) were still an option for the buyer.

basically, you can ake anything from the '99 and use it.

the only real issues to worry about when looking for a parts truck are, late model W-codes (EGR delete), X-code engines, and keeping the sub generations together.
