Default 95 tranny swap

My blazer is a 95 "w" vin auto 4x4. I believe the tranny pump is bad, it just revs free while in any gear. I want to swap to a 4l60e 2wd tranny if it's straight forward and won't cause any issues (i have a 2wd driveshaft). I don't know however if i will have compatibility issues with using a newer tranny. I have read some comments on different torque converter controls but others seem to think its not an issue. Would i just use the TC made for a 95?
I really need advice to get this car back on the road my family is down to one vehicle. If it is easier to keep it 4wd that's fine by me but i need to know what years will work and what modifications are necessary.

I don't see why you can't just throw a 2wd trans in if you want to. Just know that there are inputs for the transfer case that adjust shift parameters in the PCM depending on High or Low gear. Other than that the transmissions are the same from '95 to somewhere around '97. The torque converter is sized according to vehicle weight and power output. A converter for a V8 will feel tighter(seem like less power) if used with a V6. Likewise a converter for a heavier vehicle will feel the same in a lighter vehicle. Any converter from a Blazer with a 4.3 should be the same. I'm actually running a torque converter out of an '88 Firebird with a 305 in my '95 Blazer only because I'm to cheap to buy the correct one. It doesn't accellerate very quickly because of it though.

Hope some of that helps.
