Default 96 Blazer 4x4 transmission problem

Hello,

I have a 96 Blazer 4x4 with the 4.3 engine that I recently purchased its my first Chevy and a transmission issue has developed it runs perfect in first gear and shifts smoothly into second but tops out between 30-35mph and wont shift into 3rd gear reverse and neutral work perfectly I haven't had a chance to get into it and would greatly appreciate any advice on what could possibly be wrong with it I would hate to replace the whole transmission over something simple

Thanks.

Sounds like the 3-4 clutches are in need of replacement. Could be valve or interior sealing issues but more than likely you'll be looking at rebuilding or replacing the transmission.

I'm sure you meant 2-3 clutches but agree.
