Default 96 blazer dieing when warm

I have a 4wd 4.3 auto tranny with 159k miles. when its cold it runs fine but when it warms up the engine wants to die when its in drive and the brakes are applied. also wants to die when put into park or neutral from drive or reverse and vice versa. it also hesitates and stutters if im not gentle accelerating from a stop. it shifts fine never slips everything works on the freeway its just stopping and accelerating from a stop (kind of important) that has issues. if it does die it starts right back up and i can take off (with a gentle acceleration) tranny fluid as been replaced though there is a slight leak from the transfercase. 4wd works. im trying to avoid replacing the transmission or torque converter but let me know what you know thanks!

Sounds like you may have an IAC problem. I would run through the typical DIY general maintenance of cleaning the throttle body (including the IAC), MAF, & EGR valve. The MAF & EGR valve cleaning procedures are listed in the Tech Article (DIY) Index linked to in my signature.

If you don't remember when the last time a full tune up was performed, it may be a good time for cap, rotor, plugs, & wires.

new symptom: when i first start the truck the brakes are really touchy and i cant slightly brake it seems like the brakes automatically lock up every time i touch them until it warms up then the brakes are fine but when i brake the truck wants to die and the only way to save it is to let off the brakes and then brake to a final stop. im going to clean the egr and maf today
