Someone may have already swapped it out. It is a very easy, common, and very inexpensive upgrade. I'm getting ready to put one in my Tahoe along with a new boost valve when I service the transmission.

 

Thanks for all the help guys, you've given me some good information to try and as soon as the snow melts off here I'll let you all know how it goes. Another thing I found while searching the net is a study on the computer and the 2-3 shift flare. I'll put a link so you all can read it too. Again thanks for the help.

That is a good article that does describe another possible cause and related diagnosis for the 2-3 shift flare. It is easy to check as well. This doesn't happen anywhere near as often, but it can happen.
