96 Blazer Y Pipe Removal ?

Default 96 Blazer Y Pipe Removal ?

i have a 96 blazer and need to remove the Y pipe to get the transmission out…the bolt nuts are stripped/Frozen does anyone know if I cut them off can I pound the studs out and just replace them

The bolts in question are the ones going from the ypipe to cat the other came off fine

I believe you can. I replaced the 3 pressed in bolts on my cat a few years ago by doing that.

Mapp gas torch will help a lot

yeah if heating them up and hammering a socket on them dont get them off you can cut them. i believe they are a stud set up if thats the case youre gonna have to heat up the cut stud red hot then hit it out with a hammer hammer, or hammer and chisel if no air hammer is available. i do it on chevy vans all the time i think s10s are the same way

but anytime i try to take off any exhaust nuts no matter how good they look i heat them up, ive broken too many over the years
