Default 97 4.3 4x4 blazer engine

Hi all, my blazers 4.3 is gone.. I did find a 89 4.3 thats rebuilt on craigslist
here are the specs, will 89 bolt in using all the origial stuff from the 97, Computer and sensors ect..

Motor only has 6,000 miles and ran great when pulled
89 4.3 block bored .030
Speed pro forged flat top pistons
94 L35 heads, 3-angle valve job. Recommended springs for the cam.
Edelbrock camshaft.
Edelbrock double roller timing set.
Z28 oil pump
Arp rod and head bolts.
Motor is a complete long block with intake manifold.
comes with high performance 4.3 motor mounts for a 2wd s-series

i built this motor for my 89 s10 blazer. ran great and had lots of power. it got 27MPG highway on my trip from stl to emporia kansas. i got a free 5.7 350 with low miles so that was dropped in. the only issue with the motor is it needs a new timing cover. the timing cover is the OEM one from the truck, it was deneted on the very bottom below the crank gear. the new timing set on the new motor barley scraped it and put a pin hole in the cover. i had the truck out of town and just put some two part epoxy on it to stop the oil leak and it got me home. i pulled the motor out a few weeks after that and never bothered to repalce it. the cover does not leak anymore but its kind of an eye sore.

I also found a rebuilt 97 shortblock from www.cmengines.com for 540..

what do you think?

I could also rebuild the one i have, but the crank needs turned, 120
cam bearings and freeze plug install is about 50, boreing is 90, plus everything else will be over 540..

thanks

Don

The '89 motor will not work although it sounds like a nice motor!

You need a '96+ motor for a direct swap. You could probably go with that short block, but you would still want to rebuild the heads.
