97 Blazer - possible fuel problem?

My mom is a like front counter person at a local shop so I can get the ACDelco cap for like $35 and the rotor for $15. And I usually always use the dielectric grease on the terminals. Stuff is amazing!

You mentioned "scoring" in the cap, can you describe where it was and what it looked like? Did it look like the rotor came in contact with the terminals inside the cap?

No, just normal like electrical charge build-up. You know, that white residue that gets left on the terminals and rotor over time?

The white residue on the terminals is crystalized silicone dielectric grease, (normal). It reduces the corrosion process on the aluminum terminals. Some manufacturers use brass terminals for 2 reasons: one, brass doesn't corrode as fast as aluminum does, and two, it looks pretty, (sales gimmick). The problem with brass is that it doesn't conduct electricity nearly as well as aluminum does. Get the AC Delco stuff installed and post back

Did the cap and rotor this weekend and I'm happy to report that all is well!

Thanks for all the advice! I could have just replaced it with another junk part and most likely had this problem again in about 10k miles just like this one.
