97 blazer trany

Default 97 blazer trany

I have a 97 blazer 4.3 that needs a new trany wondering what yrs will mount up and if it could come out of any other vechile other then a blazer or if it can only be a blazer trany thanks

I have a 97 4x4 blazer with a 4.3. same question. i know the cases and torque converters are the same from 2wd to 4x4, but are the interchangeable?

I believe that both of you should have the two piece transmission case (separate bell housing). After '96, the 4L60E design didn't change all that much so you should be able to use any 97+ transmission in your blazer that matches the drivetrain configuration (2wd or 4wd). A 2wd/4wd transmission can be changed into a 4wd/2wd transmission, but to do so, it must be completely gutted to swap out the tail shaft appropriate for the configuration.

You can use a 4L60E from a fullsize truck, but the torque converter stall speed is different.
