Default 98 blaze transmisson issue

I recently inherted a 98 blazer. The problem it has is: it will shift in reverse fine. you put into drive you have to give alot of pedal to get it to move. While in drive on a incline it will hold it's self without brakes applied, if you put into neutral it will free wheel down the incline. any suggstion? Thanks for any help.

Which way are you facing on an incline? Facing up or down? It almost sounds like something is broke and causing a lot of drag. Either that or you have a leak in the forward piston. Either one is going to require removal and a repair/rebuild.
