Question Alarm malfuntion - caused by alternator?

Hi all from Big Phil in the very wet UK. I am having problems with my 2000 LT Blazer alarm which keeps setting itself off - seemingly at random. A friend says on testing the electrics he is finding a drop in the system power levels which seems to be connected with the alternator. Is this a possibility; that the alternator being defective can cause the alarm to think that an attempt is being made to bypass it. Would this be a possible cause for this symptom and could simply refurbishing or renewing the alternator be the way to cure this problem. All comments will be gratefully received. Regards, Phil
