I changed the oil and it was awful sludgy but i did substitute 1 quart of marvel mystery oil like you suggested so i just figured it was cleaning it out. When i pulled the drain plug it had all sorts of metal shavings stuck to it. (it never does) I filled it up with 10w30 and a quart of that Lucas oil treatment that looks like honey. It ran for about 10 min still scraping randomly, then I got my check gauges and the oil pressure dropped off..... I think i need a motor huh?

Definitely sounds like a new motor is in your future. The MMO wouldn't cause the oil to sludge up. I am thinking there is more at work here... Maybe your tap/tick wasn't a lifter...

Ok, I got a motor for it. (one complete from another 2000 blazer with 50K on it.) Im sure this swap isnt going to be fun, I have everything unhooked except for passengerside exhause manifold and the bolts on the bellhousing.
1. Is the y pipe going to have to come off too?
2. Any tips about getting to bellhousing easy and getting this thing out? I searched for one of those step by step tutorials like for the intake manifold but couldnt find anything...
3. this airpump i dont know if its equiped on all blazers this gen. I get a service engine every now and then concerning the air pump. can i just take it off and plug the manifolds? I live in wv so we dont have any smog tests and i know their are blazers that came without them.
Thanks
