Default Apparent Oil Leak

Was going to change my oil the other day and noticed that there was alot of caked oil on the cooler lines coming down to the remote filter, but for the life of me (other than the lines themselves) cannot think of why there would be oil there. Wasn't the filter as it was on tight (I do all my regular maintenance) but have had someone tell me that it may be a sending unit that went bad/is going bad, and that it's located above the remote filter.

Don't really know "what" I'm looking for, but any help will be much appreciated

Oh, right, it's a 1996 Blazer LS, 4.3L V6, 4x4

Follow the lines to their connector and see if that is where the leak is from. If not, start looking above the lines on the engine.

Thanks for the advice, I have this weekend off so I plan on attackin this and a couple other things lol.

What's the best way to follow the lines? Look from top down or bottom up? I know the stupid ill-designed access door will make it a pain from bottom up lol.

If they are the stock lines, I'll bet they are the culprit. Stock lines have two crimps on them and the improved lines have three. I have yet to hear anyone having a problem with the three crimped lines, including myself.

Pull your skid plate, clean all the gunk off the lines, particularly around the crimps, run the engine up to temp and take a look.
