Exactly how does it work the GM dealer told me its full-time 4 wheel drive when the rear wills begin to slip it ramps power up to the front wheels depending on the slip he said its a torque split between the front and rear is this true?? How does this feature work exactly?

Well 97 and older is a torque split 65 rear 35 front or somewhere around there and a viscious clutch sends more power to the front when rear rpm jumps to a certain point above what the front is and vice versa. I found a nice borg warner 4472 info packet about mine once if I can find it I will add it here. The 98 and newer models have a NVG transfer case that is 100% rear until slippage occurs. This change was to improve fuelmileage.

Yeah, the BW transfer case was a fulltime split with no change in torque delivery depending on conditions. The 98+ NVG 136 transfer case is active, meaning that it can go from 100% of the torque going to the rear wheels to upwards of 50% (IIRC) of the torque being delivered to the front wheels.
