I have been having issues with the check engine light lately and I new it was the EGR valve, when I had it to the shop they hooked it up and got an error code for the EGR and a bad oxygen sensor. I def. trust this guy we have always used him, but im wondering if it idles VERY badly (rough) because of that, he says the oxygen sensor can do that. He wants 40 to replace it and its going it tommorw for that and he is gonna clean the egr valve to.

Depending on the ECU/PCM configuration, you could have one or two O2 sensors. Only one of them (the one closest to the engine) is used for fuel management. And yes, a bad O2 sensor could cause idle problems, but typically cause problems more than just at idle.
