Default Basic engine removal

I'm trying to remove the engine and tranny at the same time from the 96 cehvy s10 blazer. Problem is I cant seem to clear the oil pan around the front diff.

Can I remove the oil pan and clear it?

Or is it possible to drop the front diff/acle down enough to clear it?

I looked online but most people seem to remove the engine seperate from the tranny. I tried pushing the tranny down all the way and lifting the engine and that didnt help either.

I know its probably obvious to some of you, but im stumpped! Thanks

You can unbolt the diff, but it's probably easier to remove the transmission and slide it out from underneath.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll probably end up taking that advice.

Since the last post I removed all the bolts to the oil pan and the starter and some oil tubing, but still cannot removed the stupid pan!?! It drops down but will not clear the front diff. Argh!

Without pulling the front axle you won't be able to get the pan off. Getting the pan off the pickup is hard enough with the engine out. I think only 2 bolts hold the axle inplace anyways. To pull it out as one would be hard enough though anyways. Too much tail weight.
