Best V6 for Blazer??
Hey Guys...I was wonderign if there is a good V6 engine to swap for the 4.3L vortech. I want to get a better engine in order to customized the car...But I don't want to go for the V8 (sorry if some guys don't agree with this lol). Are there any options of V6 out there that are better than the stock blazer engine, and can be put into a blazer?

well the 4.3 is the biggest gas powered V6 out there. sure some other NEW smaller V6's would put out a little more power, but why waste money on one of those when you could just upgrade the current 4.3 you have in there now?? You could put a more aggressive cam in, put the marine 4.3 intake on it then put a turbo in, bore out the exhaust manifold then put bigger headers on then continue with the bigger exhaust all the way back. and after doing all this you will probably spend less than you would getting a newer V6 and you would also get more power out of the upgraded 4.3.
so if its performance you are looking for just upgrade the 4.3 or reconsider the V8 idea lol

What he said...
It already has the best V6 for it.
I dont have a clue WHY people with the 2nd gen talk about swapping out the 4.3 long block. Almost all the 'engine' problems on here have nothing to do with the block and heads.
See below.. I'm a Ford guy .. I do my homework.. the 4.3 is the result of the best most reliable refinement of the SBC there is.
Now read this.. way more power out of it without even touching the base engine.. or modify the PCM a whole lot {does need tune to work best with full boost but will run without it.}
4.3L Vortec Marine Intake Conversion Helpfull Hints:
1. Does away with the stupid spider injection. Then you have a choice whether to stay with the 60lb fuel system for better economy or go to 40 lb system for reliability {Delphi FP ought to last well over 200 Kmile if you do that, lol}.. just by changing the injectors and the FPR.
2. Lets you hang a turbo on it pretty easily. and turbo is the best solution that allows you to keep some fuel economy while increasing power considerably.
3. Adding EGR to Marine Intake ought to be a piece of cake..Drill Tap use Silicone tubing.
That would have been on here but it goes over the heads of most of this population.
That's okay.. it just bugs me that some here think that they have to drop in a 350 so they can understand it.. or to say they did it , I guess. Like 100,000 other guys
- Just for grins I may work out in my head how to swap in a Ford EECV {Obd 1.5} PCM to run the engine and trans but wouldnt swap in a Ford 4.2L {3.8L base} because there's no reason.
Other than to annoy the crap out of people who like to pretend Fords are less reliable than their trucks.

I wouldn't say good, they are heavy, the power to weight ratio to gas used isn't real great, and have bad vibe problems. Good by default for the only reason there isn't a better design in production isn't really much to brag about. There are better designs but not in production.
The v6s in the new camaros are way better but still costly and hard to get.
