I have a 1995 Blazer and it needs a transmission...
BUT I found on Craigslist a 1997 Blazer with a blown motor for cheaper than buying a rebuilt tranny.
My question is.... IS there anything I would have to worry about if I swapped my 4.3L into the 97?
The thing I'm concerned about is the injection... Did they change it fron 95 to 97???

yup, totally different engine.
your truck has the W-code from '92 through '95. in '96 they went back to a TBI set-up. all of the electronics are different-especially when it comes to the ECM. (your truck could be a OBDI, OBDI.5 or a OBDII)
while you could grab that '97 for the trans, you could then part out the truck (if you have the room to store it while you're doing that, or just send the rest to scrap when you're done.
i'm only 99.9% sure there isn't any swap issue with the '97 trans, take a deep look into the electronics between the two, just to be absolutely sure.

Thank you! Just the answer that I was lookin for. But is there any way to make it work or what??
I'll check into the transmission stuff to see if it will work for mine.

unless your current '95 is a basket case, why not just do the trany swap?
personally............provided it will work with out any issues, i'd rather swap a trany (or even an engine) into a truck i'm already driving, since i know what it's like already & any qwerks it may have.
new truck could be a whole new mess of issues.
for the '97 engine swap......you'd need to swap the whole top end from the other engine (heads & intake, distributor, can't think of anything else @ the moment.......).
is this other truck worth doing that much work to your engine? (just asking)

Well im not gonna do it... were just gonna get the exhaust manifolds, y pipe and straight pipe the rest of the exhaust.
The only reason I was looking into doing that was cuz we have to cut my exhaust because it's all rusted together and it doesn't seperate at the cat like it's suppose to (due to rust)
I was just thinkin it may be easier to swap engines if it wasn't gonna be a pain in the butt... and cheaper cuz i wouldn't have to replace the exhaust. I'm on a budget lol

wait, why are you gonna butcher the exhust system?
just spray the y-pipe to manifold studs daily, then replace them once the trany is out. even if they snap, it's not that difficult to drill them out & retap the holes. as for seperating the rest of it.........just grind/cut off the bolts @ the cat/y-pipe,they're easy to knock out & replace.
either way you look @ it (engine or trany swap) you're gonna be removing the exhaust from the manifolds.

My blazer doesn't have a flange at the cat... the pipe on the Y fits into the cat and it has a clamp. That's rusted together. SO the only real option we have is to cut the exhaust out.
As for the manifold studs, they already broke... but we picked up new manifolds and are jsut gonna get the hardware. They would have to come out either way so we just gonna replace them. We picked everything up really cheap lol.
