blazer stuck in park wont shift
These were my symptoms: the truck will not start but the motor will turn over to the on position....when you turn the key to the ACC position, it doesn't get any of the dash lights, like the check engine light, the brake light, seat belt etc.... but my headlights and radio worked fine. It also wont come out of park even if you have your foot on the brake and the key turned....as soon as the dash lights went out it got stuck in park. But now if I don't get any of the dash lights. I'll leaceit on tha "ON" position for a coouple of seconds and might dash and lights will come on. I found this out by keep playing with the ignition key.
Gave up and took it to the dealer. Going to be $540 to replace the linkage cable from the shifter to the trans and to find and repair a broken wire somewhere that is preventing power from making it to the BTSI switch. Suck.
Mine ended up being the linkage cable connecting the transmission from the shifter and a short in the cable that runs to the little servo that allows you to take it out of park. You can get underneath and unhook the linkage cable from your transmission and try to manually shift it. Be sure that it is secure before you put it in gear so you don't roll over yourself. If you can shift it manually then it is possible that your cable has failed as mine did. Good Luck.
jkhabel, thanks for replying. I am wondering what the symptom you were having. I disconnected the transmission linkage under the car and i can freely switch the trans into any gear with the lever on the trans. My servo that releases the console shifter isn't working and the linkage cable seems stuck. Were these problems you had with a bad ignition switch?
ignitioi\n switch is bad
