Default Broken A/C compressor?

Ok so I've been reading a few similar threads started on this subject, but none of them seem the have the same resolution as mine.
So my A/C hasn't worked for over a year, never cared, but now that the summer's coming it'd really be nice to have it running. I checked all the hoses for leaks, nothing obvious, so now I'm coming to the compressor. How can you tell if the A/C clutch is stuck? When the clutch is spinning, is it noticable? Or is there a cover over the clutch plate? When I turn the A/C on I see nothing spinning except for the pulley on the compressor itself. Also, something new?..after running the engine cold for about a minute this morning, I turned the A/C on and noticed a high pitched squealing noise (also read this on another thread) but I just changed the belt and tension pulley a few months ago after it seized on me. The squealing continued even after turning the A/C off.. Looking at the tension pulley, the entire arm seems to be jolting as if it were lose?? It's a tight jolt though, as if it's just rocking/vibrating along with the rest of the engine vibrations. I never noticed the squealing until today, the first time I turned my broken A/C on in a while.

You can manually engage the clutch by applying ground and +12V across the coil terminals. This should pull the clutch plate in against the pulley, engaging the clutch.

You can also try to turn the A/C compressor by hand. If it does not turn by hand, then the clutch will not get it going either.

Yeah actually, a little before you said that I manually turned it with my hand, it seemed fine. Turned pretty easy with one hand. I also noticed a funny sound coming from either the accumulator or blower when I was turning it, kinda sounded like when you're drinking and you suck those last few drops through the straw.. real funny sound.

The low pressure switch is in the accumulator/filter/dryer assembly (silver canister) on the passenger side of the motor. The high pressure switch is in the back of the compressor.
