Default Can anyone help? 89 Chevy S10 blazer problems

Hello everyone, so I have a 4.3 v6 89 Chevy S10 blazer with some type of issue. It runs and drives bit when idling at red lights ect it misses horribly. While missing at the exact same time the check gauges lights flashes on and off with the misses. I have also noticed strong fuel smell after driving and the headlights have dimmed with some of the bad misses as well. Im completely lost as to what it could be.

First off, the thing to do is get an OBD code reader to see what codes have been set.

That you are missing and smelling fuel makes me wonder if you have a leak in your fuel injection possibly causing an overrich condition. Has your mileage also gone down recently?

On the 92 I had, one of the fuel hose under the intake plenum burst. My engine had the cool-looking "Vortec" cover. I forget the engine letter code for it.

89 would be pre-OBDII. Hard to get to the codes. It should already have the ability to blink the codes but I'm at loss on how that works on the 89.
And try a search on the internet for retrieving DTC's.

This may help for starters.
