Default Car won't even make a noise. Won't turn over or on.

I tried starting my 1995 Blazer up this morning and it wouldn't even make a noise. It doesn't make any sort of sound it just doesn't start at all. I lofted the hood and their was a burn smell ns some smoke was their but still nothing. Any ideas? I replaced the starter about 4 months ago. The batter about 5 months ago. The tire was also flat I was late to work. But that's an issue for another time. Please help me? Any ideas?

well, what starts the car? starter, battery, keyswitch. Neutral saftey switch can casue a no start, try in a different gear. After that the only thing is to see if the starter solenoid is getting the signal from the key.

Do the lights come on if you turn them on? If they do, do they dim when you turn the key? Have you tried starting it in neutral?

your starter may be shorted, with the burn smell and lights still dimming yet not turning the starter. If the battery is fine then it must be the starter. However before replacing briefly check the wires on the battery to the starter

Okay, turn the headlights on and have someone turn the key to start. If they dim noticably but nothing happens, I'd pull the starter and have it bench tested. They can be a real pain to get out depending on what you have. It sounds like the brushes in your start are worn beyond their service life. Testing will tell you if you need a new one. Places like AutoZone will test it for free. If it is bad, they can sell you a rebuilt one on the spot and you have your core with you right there.

Okay guys got it going. All I did was loosen the bolts holding it in place move it around a little re tightened and fires up like new. It's weird only a matter of time before it goes though. The only thing is I've replaced the starter within the last 6 months and it was a B**** to get out.
