Choosing a Blazer - Replacing transmission and transfer case advisable?
#1
![Question](https://blazerforum.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
How difficult and expensive is it to replace an automatic transmission in a '95 Blazer with a manual one? And replacing the electronic transfer case with a mechanical one?
You see, I'm looking at buying a Blazer, and I found a decent '95. It just has the wrong tranny and transfer case (I want a stick shift, and would prefer a mechanical lever to the electronic "push a button" transfer case). I've also been looking at a '94 with manual transmission, but I like the '95 better (both design-wise, and this particular vehicle had much more luxury options than the '94 I was looking at). So if it's not too much hassle I would like to modify the '95. What do you think?
Getting a '95 with a manual transmission is probably out of the question. I live in Norway, and Blazers are rare. There are currently about 20 of them for sale here right now that I know about (from searching the major Norwegian websites for used cars), so I don't have a lot to choose from.
To approach it from a different angle: How much work would it be to make the simple '94 more comfy and better looking? Is this a better way to approach it? Are '94s any better than '95s or the other way around, when it comes to reliability and such?
EDIT:
Oh, and both of these are the 4 door version, both 4WD. The '94 has the 4.3l Vortec V6 ca 160hp, the '95 has the same engine but with ca 190hp. Both are TBI, I believe.
I just got a much better offer on the '95, and will go through with this unless somebody stops me
If I'm heading towards hell, please tell me now.
