column shifter

2000 blazer 4.3 column shifter will not go into park can move into park from underneath manually any suggestions ? we are on vacation trans shifts fine, just will not go into park on its own thanks tony

You can try to adjust it underneath the truck by pulling the large retainer clip from the white socket and get some tension and put the clip back in but chances are you are going to need to replace the shifter cable when you get home. To get through vaca I'd just find something to push it into park each time you stop (it can get very hot is why I said find something) and then deal with it at home. hey thanks, I figured it was the cable. everything seems to pretty tight underneath tony
