Default Complicated Engine Swap…

Hey Everybody,

Getting ready to tow my 1999 Blazer home to be rebuilt. I will be ordering parts soon… however, I saw an update led Toyota a few months ago and I haven’t been able to shake it.

The guy had built an old Toyota Land Cruiser with a diesel engine… and I want one too.

So… now I’m off to find out if there are any pre-computer, mechanical diesel engines that could possibly fit? I seem to remember Oldsmobile made a Delta 88 with a Diesel engine. Folks used to swap em for 350’s.

I’m building this baby out as my Apocalypse ride… I’ll never sell it and live it a place where no one would care.

****Bonus**** if you know of a multi-fuel type engine that I could swap.

I have access to a shop, welding equipment, and even have a buddy that is a machinist with his own shop. I was a 6GR Pipe & Structural welder and have rebuilt 4-wheeler frames out in bush Alaska.

I am just wondering if it is possible, or even better… whether some lunatic has already done it?

if it’s too crazy, I’ll go back to the original rebuild plan.

Thanks.

There have been a few 4bt swaps done. A guy on one of the other forums has a duramax in a first gen. So yes it can be and has been done.
