coolant leak
i have coolant leaking from my upper rad hose right where it connects to the top of the rad. i thought it was a bad hose cause it was pretty ****ty but i bought a new one and put it on and the same thing. it seems as if the rad is blocked or something and it has nowhere to go except to squeeze out in a rather steady pace. any thoughts???

RE: coolant leak
Are you sure the clamps are still good?

RE: coolant leak
and dont forget to make sure where it connects theres no build up and pieces of stuff that would make it leak around

RE: coolant leak
also the stud you hook the hose up to may be loose. i had to remove my radiator dude to the wreck and in pulling one of the hoses off the stud pulled out with it. ergo, yours might be loose too.

RE: coolant leak
no build up and the hose and clamp are fine. wtf?

RE: coolant leak
i had one that the hose clamp had been tightened too tightly and cracked the plastic rad... take the hose off and inspect the area for hair line cracks.....

RE: coolant leak
I believe it was a small crack because the plastic broke off in my hand. why would it have to be plastic?there goes $200 i don't have

RE: coolant leak
you can get the plastic tank with gasket online for $80 - someone chime in with the gm parts link before I can go find it...
EDIT: found it:

Inlet tank is $46 and outlet tank $71, each with a gasket, for the '93 vin W. I don't know what yours is, though.

and how does this help

RE: coolant leak
Instead of paying $200 for a radiator, you can spend less on a replacement plastic side tank and do it yourself.
But that's up to you.
