Angry Drive Line Dragging?????

Ok so this is what happened. I switched my 97 blazer LS into 4wd high. ( Neutral, shifted it, reversed, then drove). The truck feels like its pulling a small boat and when it starts going above 5mph it whines. I checked the the front diff and changed the fluid and it seemed fine. Could the transfer case be the cause of this? When its in 2wd it drives perfectly. I am going to check the transfer case fluid tomorrow.

If i find that the transfer case is low or empty, is there any way of possibly saving it? Lucas trans fix??

Thanks for any and all help.

It happens anytime i engage 4wd. i just bought the truck a little while ago. i have a feeling it could be because of the 2 dif size tires. 235/75/15 new front and 235/70/15 bald rear

DING DING DING! That's definitely the issue! You have to have the same size tires on there! 235/75R15 == ~29" tall while 235/70R15 == ~28" tall. That is a substantial difference and is causing your drivetrain to find. DO NOT use your 4wd until you get equal size tires on there or you could damage the transfer case if you haven't already.

Thank you for confirming my guestimate. I normally ride around in 2wd. As soon as i put it into 4 wheel and rolled not more then 100ft i disengaged it and havent used it again. Tires are on their way. Thanks again.
