Exclamation drivetrain clang

its a 97 auto ls. while in park sounds like a clang noise coming from either the transmission or transfer case. while driving its a semi strong vibration almost like a wheel bearing, I have changed the pass. front hub assembly as it was starting to go out using the shake the tire test. vibration still there not as bad. checked the transfer case fluid dropped maybe a quart in a drain pan. checked and refilled trans fluid, I think the trans feeds the transfer case am I right? goes into 4 lo 4 hi but has trouble going back into 2 high its a 3 button dash switch. and the 2 high light doesn't come on the console but to flash and stay on a few seconds but goes back out but I can hear it going in and out of 4hi lo back into 2hi however I have to press it a few times to get it fully in. HELP

the transmission and transfercase are separate sealed units. you have to fill each one by it self. the trans from the dipstick tube up front and the transfer case from the fill hole on the back side of the case

the tcase holds about 2 quarts. get it leveled, and add fluid till it oozes out. Now,your gonna ask how the heck do you fit a bottle in there...You need about 3 feet of rubber 5/8 fuel line. run it through the crossmember behind the tcase, into the case. You'll have enough line behind the cross member to shove the bottle into and sqeeze in the case.

I learned the hard way. Or if your not cheap like me,buy a bottle pump at the auto store and pump it in there.

Thanks for the tip on how to fill the transfer case and info that they are separate systems. Any ideas on what the clanging noise I hear are? To me it sounds like it's a rotational clang, it does not do it all the time however once it starts the noise it doesn't stop until it sits for a bit. Then once you drive it it starts back up. I can't really hear if it's making the noise while driving the vibration noise overpowers it if it is. But I can hear a light grinding noise almost like a brake hanging up while driving
