egr tube question

Here are some of the Cons: Among other things, EGR reduces combustion temperature which reduces detonation, (spark knock). Without EGR gasses mixing with inlet air, the engine will have detonation. The knock sensor will detect it and ignition timing will be retarded by the PCM until there is no more knock.... or power.... or fuel mileage. Disconnecting the knock sensor will stop the PCM from retarding ignition timing, BUT, combustion temperatures will rise and the detonation will burn holes in the tops of the pistons. There's a whole string of other things involved, along with an EPA fine if you get caught.

But truth there. Its just better to fix it.

One thing to always keep in mind when it comes to parts on a vehicle: The manufacturer does not install a single part unless it is absolutely necessary. Whether an engineer prescribed it, or the gubment demanded it. If the gubment demanded it, and you remove it, there is a fine involved.
