Okay, Let's rule out a leaking intake gasket, they canleakever so slightly (like mine did)Go rent a radiator pressure tester, bring it up to about 14-15 #'s, watch it carefully, it should hold there for quite a while. If it stays you should be ok, If it drops, there's your problem, it's so common for these to leak. (& this will allow air in the system )
When I recommended you bleeding the air, you didn't mention having the idle up to about 1500-2000 rpms steady for about 1/2hr. That will move any stubborn air pockets in the system, so it will rise to the top of the system and escape.
I had no luck moving the air on mine @ idle/cool sequence. So I forced circulation of coolant around engine, and little bubbles of air kept coming to the top for over 20-25 minutes !Then the problem was resolved. Mine is perfect now, finally !

FINALLY!!! I have heat, i was able to get to a place with a garden hose to flush the heater core this weekend. When i flushed it the normal direction of flow everything looked normal, then i back flushed and WOW i couldnt believe how dark and chunky the water was that came out.

Now i have really hot heat, temperature gauge still does weird things, but oh well.

did you replace the thermostat with a 195 degree rated one or the 160 that is available for it. that may also be the problem
