Default RE: External Transmission Filter?

well i have been doing a lot of reading, and it appears that they may have bypassed it because they were using the truck to tow in the desert and the rad was actually heating the fluid.

so i just need to find the right fittings. am I correct that they are 1/2 NPT fittings?

also since I will be adding an external filter (for added fluid volume if nothing else), would this be the correct setup?

trans >> ex-filter >> rad-cooler >> ex-cooler >> trans

also I am curious if there are any guidelines to installing the ex-filter? like should it be low on the rig or does it matter too much? I dont want to add stress to the pump that isnt necissary? however the exuast is on the same side as the trans lines so not much room under the chassis, however I am installing a CAI, wich will make room on the drivers side, but is that too far to run lines? any suggestions?
