failed EGR valve or blockage of pintle

Default failed EGR valve or blockage of pintle

yesterday my check engine light came on so i got it diagnosed and it was a failed EGR valve or blockage of pintle so i got a new valve and cleaner for the manifold i replaced it and sprayed the cleaner into the manifold, the check engine light turned off for about 10-15 minutes before it came back on. both times the code was p1404 can anyone help me out? i changed my fuel pump the other day could that have any affect? i have a 98 blazer 4 door 4x4

If the EGR supply tube is really crusted, it often will take using a REALLY long brass pipe cleaner to get the tube itself cleaned out before installing the new valve.

Also, if you didn't use the screened gasket, then you likely have a chunk of carbon in there already again.
