Default good place to get a used 4l60e and a good trans cooler

The auto transmission seems to be dead on my 96 blazer, it will not shift above 2nd gear. I have tried looking online for a used 4l60e, but I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with buying a replacement one. Also I want to put a new trans cooler on so this doesnt happen again....I was looking to see if anyone had any suggestions on which ones would work better. I have been searching online but I havent had anything real solid yet. I was just hoping to hear from someone who might have been in the same boat who might have a couple of suggestions for me. I rather fix the blazer and get it back on the road instead of seeing it crushed....it is way too nice of a rig for that.

Greetings !

To clarify - the '96 blazer You have is not a 4X4 , right ? No transfer case or front diff to worry about ? OK , your 4L60e will not auto upshift out of first , have You tried manually going through the gears ? Start in first and manually shift to second ect ? If it acts like there are no more gears above first , the 2-4 clutch pack is likely toast ... and I would recommend You have the trans rebuilt rather than replaced . Don't keep driving it though or "hard part" damage may occur and grenade the trans

It is a 4x4....sorry for not mentioning that. It is at a shop right now, but they havent gotten around to looking at it yet, but we have tried to price out some used transmissions and they are expensive...

I would take it to a tranny shop & have it rebuilt or repaired. As for coolers I have had very good success with the B&M SuperCooler. I use the 11" x 5.5" you can get them for $50 from Jegs.com. Summitracing has them also but I hate dealing with them. I have been into their store in Reno NV & they are A$$es. I have much better service, friendliness, & not the attitude from Jegs.

So bottom line you don't have a tranny shop. How far is the nearest one from you? The closest one to me is 75 miles away when I'm in Nevada. So I understand. When I'm home in Yuma I use Team Ramco. Those guys are great. Plus they build custom convertors & racing & tow transmissions. They did some work with on my 97 Blazer last year & it never shifted so good.

I went and talked to a guy locally who a friend told me rebuilds transmissions and he said he only really rebuilds them for himself and told me the blazer wasnt really worth the time money and energy to rebuild the transmission or buy a new one, but he did say he would keep an eye out for one....everyone i have found so far has been around 500 bucks used with like a 60 day warranty....
