Default Harmonic balancer help!!!!

Working on a friends 98 jimmy 4x4. Lots of engine vibration. Noticed what looked like movement in harmonic balancer so i went to swap another i had from a 4.3 out of a blazer but when i lined them up the timing marks were off so we bought a new one to instal . After using installation tool to press it on i was able to just pull it back off by hand. Its the dorman balancer from autozone. Do i need a different balancer or a repair sleeve?? Thanks

What should the backspacing between balancer and crank be?

It sounds like hes asking how far the pulley is supposed to be from the engine block?

No, sorry wording was odd i guess. I am wondering if the face of the crankshaft will sit flush with pulley or if there is backspacing and if so how much?

I'm pretty sure the front of the crank sits behind the face of the pulley and the bolt/washer tightens the rear of the balancer up against the crank timing gear/crank position sensor reluctor on the snout of the crankshaft behind the cover. The thickness of the reluctor/crank gear determines how far back the balancer goes and the big external bolt/washer simply holds it there - amount of "backspacing" would be irrelevant). Does there seem to be a problem?
