Hey guys,
So after thinking hard and long about not wanting to pay $2400 to have a shop replace my headgasket, I'm doing them tomorrow. Along with all the other gaskets on the way down/up and the timing chain.
Anyone have any tips or other things I should replace?
Thanks
Eric

While you have the heads off, I would recondition them. Clean them up really well, check them for flatness, relap the valves, and replace the valve seals.
Now would be a good time for a cam swap as well! If you were to go that route, you would want to at least check the valve springs for consistency, if not just replace them with aftermarket ones.
Maybe do some porting on the heads while they are out as well.
Make sure to follow the torque specs on the bolts to a 'T'.

So been working on it since yesterday morning and still don't have the heads out. Really starting to hate the positioning of half the stuff for these engines. And to top it off no performance parts or even any new valve springs or cams to replace the old ones for at least 2 weeks (that's what all the parts places here are saying) if they're shot; hoping they're still good.
