Default Help - Dies at 3000 rpms

I have a 1998 Blazer with the 4.3L V-6. It starts and idles fine. But when you step on the gas in Park, it spits and sputters and almost shuts off once it hits 3000 rpms. I replaced the MAP Sensor and the Fuel Filter. Any ideas?

Also, about 4 months ago the fuel pump quit. I bought a new one off ebay. There seems to be 2 different ones. One costs about $90 and the other about $300. I bought the cheap one. I couldn't use the gasket that came with it and had to modify it a little and use some sealant. Any idea of the difference...did the '98s have 2 different fuel pumps? The car ran fine for about 4 months even though the gas gauge stays at empty now and the light stays on.

Any help here? I just bought a fuel pressure regulator...seems good....Goes up to 60 psi and cycles back down to 56 with key switch, same thing at idle and when blazer starts dying at 3000rpms, fuel pressure stays at 60. I replaced the MAP sensor and cleaned the MAF sensor.

Most likely the cat is plugged. You can remoe the pre cat O2 sensor as a test. BUT take note of where the exhaust is going to hit...this area is going to get hot so take caution. See fi the enigne will rev past 3000. If so, time for a new cat.

Default Plugged Cat

You were right....I cut the catalytic converter off and it ran fine. Now getting the bolts out seems to be another chore. I snapped all of them off but 2. The tranny support is in the way. I think I'll have to torch out the broken ones.
