Default Help finishing up transmission install

I have a 98 Jimmy w/ a 4L60E tranny. I just rebuilt the tranny, and put it all together, but now it doesn't crank and I can't get it out of park. Wondering if the crank part is the neutral safety switch connector(s). Anyone know what the pinouts are for? There's 2 connectors -- a 7 pin and a 4 pin. My Haynes manual says to test the switch I can ohm out 2 pins on the 7 pin connector, and it seems to work fine in the park and neutral position. Funny thing is that the connector doesn't have a wire on one of those pins, and that worrys me.

Re: shifting, any ideas there? Could it be related to the above? I DO have brake lights when I press brake pedal, and I'm trying to shift w/ key in run position. Can't push in the button to shift out of park. (I did pop off the shift cable and can easily move the transmission through its entire range)

Please, no dumb remarks. I'm no rocket scientist, but I do have power for everything (windows, radio, seat, etc.) battery on fresh charge. Pretty sure everything's connected up right. When I turn the key to start, the radio lights go out until I return it to run posit. Help please!

Definitely sounds like a problem with the transmission park/neutral position switch. It likely is just an adjustment issue.

* Check the switch for proper operation.
* The engine must be in the P (Park) or N (Neutral) positions only. If adjustment is required, loosen the switch retaining bolts and rotate the switch slightly.
* Tighten the bolts and check the switch for proper operation.
* Repeat the switch adjustment procedure until the engine starts when the shift lever is positioned in park and neutral.
* If improper operation continues refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that was it. Would it also cause me to not be able to shift out of park?

Update as of last night (6/30): Woo Hoo!! It works!! It started great and also shifted. And the for the grand finale... after it warmed up and I topped off the fluid, the transmission is working great!

For those of you considering doing a rebuild on your own, I can tell you -- It's a lot of work, and you need to be careful about what you're doing, but it's a doable thing. It was pure finances that drove me to do it on my own. The sun shell was cracked, and the 3-4 and forward clutch packs were toast. I replaced what needed replacing, cleaned everything, and put it all back together. No one was more surprised and pleased that it worked.
