Help me with Swap estimate
Well i was gun ho for the v8 swap till i really started looking into it. The deeper i go the more expensive it seems to be. I just called a local wrecker and the engine itself is 1200 plus the conversion kit another 6-700. So i am looking at around 2 grand plus for this swap is it really worth all this money and time?!

Yes, I believe it is, depending on which engine you put in, condition of said engine and what your future plans for the Blazer are.
I'll be doing this eventually if/when my little 4.3 decides to bite the dust.

Sorry but $1200 from a wrecker for a 5.7? We just put a brand new 5.7 (everything from oil pan to heads) in my buddy's silverado we got that from pace performance for $1100 with a 7 year 70,000 mile warranty.
If you are going to spend that much screw the wrecker buy a new one with a warranty if nothing else for the peace of mind.

Outsydr took the words out of my mouth.
They are gouging your wallet for a wrecker engine. His tale of a respectable 5.7 for the price is also confirmed. I would go that route as well.

Well, I didn't comment on his engine choice as he didn't say what it was. And I agree $1200 for a used 5.7 is too high. Now, if that 5.7 happens to be an LS1 with about 20K miles, I might rethink it, providing you got all accessories with it including the computer.
I think the OP needs to let us know what kind of engine he is looking at and the condition.

Surprisingly enough, used 350's are quite expensive now that many of them have been trashed by the Cash for Clunkers. One of my fellow firefighters snapped the crank in his truck with the SCFI Vortec 5.7L and he can't find one below $1k used as ridiculous as that sounds.
