Thanks, guys! 🙁
And what is your guess as for how many more trips to work, before I get stranded?
I forgot to ask. Can the plates be replaced, without removing the transmission? Or does the whole thing have to be removed?

The link to "no reverse", with the non-working chart.:

So, These Transmissions are known for several Failure Modes
3/4 Clutchpack Burnout
2-4 Band and Reverse input Drum Burnout/Deformation
Oil Pump Failure
And Torque Converter Failure.
Reverse is a Hydraulic-Only Gear, Meaning no electronic Control and is typically indicative of oil feed issues since you mentioned soft/sometimes nonfunctional reverse, since it sometimes-moves-sometimes-doesnt in all gears you probably have a few or more blown seals internally, that plus slipping and with that mileage the clutches are probably toast too
Automatic Transmissions are expensive pieces of equipment, and you are headed into a mess of a rebuild, especially if you keep driving it like that. as far as loosing fluid, Check your transfer case. The Output shaft seal is probably blown clean through and your Transfer case is filled with ATF. it being an NV236-NP8 like mine there are clutches in there that you may need to be worried about, but they tend to be pretty stout and dont fail often, Drain and Refill the Transfer Case with the CORRECT Autotrak Fluid while the Tranny and TCase are out of the truck and make sure whatever shop you have (or you yourself) do the rebuild also replaces that output seal.

oh and FLUSH THE COOLER AND LINES, Assuming you still have the radiator cooler hooked up inline flush that too, a big killer during rebuilds and swaps is not flushing the cooler(s), introducing junk into the new tranny.
